Does God Heal Non-Christians?

I'm the sort of person who doesn't care much for the unpredictable.  On rare occasions do I actually enjoy being surprised, but they are few and far between.  The longer I walk with the Lord, the more I realize that He enjoys turning my little world on end every so often, just to keep me on my toes.  Take, for example, God's sovereignty in the realm of healing.

When I first became a disciple of the Messiah, I was taught that if a Christian did all the right things, stayed away from all the wrong things, and was generally a “good” person, then God would answer your prayers and bless you.  There seemed to be an implied correlation between my being good and God blessing me.  Attain level one, you receive level one blessings.  Move on to level two and received the blessings reserved for that level, and so forth.  The problem was that it didn't seem to be working for me.  The more I prayed, studied the Word and drew closer to God, the worse my condition seemed to get.  This, in turn, caused me to press in to God even more.  I also began questioning what I had been taught.

Finally, I began to understand the truth about God - He is God and will bless and heal whomever He chooses for His glory, not for our convenience or to fit into our notions of who we thing He is.  I thank God that He has healed me in spite of myself!  Personally, I can't think of a better way to show someone the depth of your love than by easing their physical or emotional suffering.  And I believe that's exactly what God does when He heals non-Christians.  Yes, I said non-Christians!

I'm sure that there are reasons too numerous to count as to why God would do such a thing.  Two that are probably at the top of the list are to show His great mercy and compassion, and to point to His Son, Yeshua the Messiah.  Can you imagine what would happen if a person was healed of a physical ailment such as migraines, cancer, or chronic back pain?  Or how about being instantaneously set free from an addiction to drugs, alcohol or pornography?  No, not every person who receives a healing touch from God will accept Yeshua as their Messiah, and that is their choice.  But I believe that even in those circumstances there are those who will witness the miracle and come into the kingdom of God.

When the kingdom of God breaks into our world things start happening.  Sinners are set free.  Sinners are redeemed.  Sinners are healed.  It doesn't matter how it happens, as long as it does.  Let's just make sure we don't let our preconceived notions get in God's way when He starts moving!
